Alpine Club of Canada Alpine Mentorship Program

ACC Logo

The Alpine Mentorship Program (AMP) was created to alleviate extensive waitlists. Four problems were identified. First, the Section did not have enough trips for the membership. Second, members with enough experience to coordinate trips were not because coordination often resulted in trips that required instruction and/or guiding. Third, many members did not have enough experience to be competent trip participants. Fourth, members new to the sport did not have ample avenues to develop their skills to become trip coordinators.

The AMP has 4 goals:

Create competent and safe trip participants.

Develop safe and competent trip leaders.

Increase the number of trips on the Calgary Section calendar.

Reduce wait lists on Calgary Section trips.

AMP2 Goal: Develop novice trip leaders with coaching and mentorship.

Pre-AMP Goal: Develop novice level skills.
