Justin Roper — ACMG

Justin was born in Brampton, and spent his time growing up camping and fishing in the Boreal forests of Northern Ontario. Justin joined the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) in 2006 as a full time Army Weapons Technician and has served postings in CFB Borden, Petawawa, Edmonton and currently at CFB Esquimalt in Victoria BC.

He discovered rock climbing through the Army and friends in 2015 and his first routes were on North Eastern granite and Southern Ontario Limestone. With borrowed gear he set out for the first of many climbing trips to the Canadian Rockies and spent multiple weeks traveling West for bigger routes with friends. He has a passion for mentorship and enjoys teaching friends and new athletes that are interested in climbing how to be safe in the mountains.

Justin has been a Top Rope Climbing Instructor since 2023 and worked with kids groups through Island Alpine Guides on Vancouver Island and the Canadian Army Cadets summer camps with Peak Stratagem. In his spare time he enjoys ski touring, ice climbing, trail running and backcountry camping. He currently resides in Victoria BC and enjoys the tall trees and rainforests of Vancouver Island.
