Aim
To help participants become confident and competent backcountry travelers by teaching essential skills for random camping and off-trail exploration in the Rocky Mountains.
Objectives
- Introduce permitted camping areas and regulations.
- Teach off-trail navigation and terrain management techniques.
- Guide participants on how to select an appropriate campsite.
- Instruct on effective trip planning for backcountry adventures.
- Provide a refresher on basic backpacking skills.
- Include a pre-meeting with the guide and a three-day/two-night immersive backcountry hiking and camping experience.
- Recommend previous backpacking experience for participants.
Prerequisites
No prior experience is required. This course is suitable for beginners.
